Supervised Jobsearch Pilots Evaluation

This document describes an evaluation of the Department for Work and Pensions' Supervised Jobsearch Pilots (SJP), a program aimed at improving job-search effectiveness for benefit claimants through supervised activities. The evaluation, which used a mixed-methods approach including interviews and surveys, targeted two groups of claimants from October 2014 to March 2015. Although some participants reported increased confidence and job-search skills, the program did not significantly impact employment rates. The evaluation highlighted the need for more personalized support and flexibility, as well as the challenges faced due to diverse participant demographics and barriers to employment. Operational issues also arose from inconsistent referral volumes. Despite some positive effects on job-search behavior, the program's prescriptive nature and lack of sustained improvements suggest that future employment programs should be more tailored to individual needs. The evaluation also included a technical report on the methodology of the Wave 1 survey, which consisted of 534 interviews. **This summary was written by an AI model and therefore should not be considered a definitive summary of the report.
